About

Creating opportunities for disabled people to participate in society and have equal rights with everyone is beyond doubt – successful integration is aimed at in all countries of the world. Each country has its own good work practices to share with others.

The international Erasmus + project “Empowering life“ unites 3 countries: Lithuania, Iceland and Belgium. Each project partner has strengths and competences that can be useful for all participating countries – the project aims to exchange good work experience of the countries in working with persons with special needs, to include persons with intellectual and mental disabilities in active activities in cooperation with other countries, and to present various organizations applied working methods.

The main goal of the project is to increase the integration of disabled persons with intellectual and mental disabilities into society.

Project partners Iceland and Belgium are more advanced in the application of various ICT and assistive technologies and the Jonava people with disabilities activity center intensively applies group work methods in its activities.

It is particularly significant that all countries are united by the general attitude that it is important to notice a person’s abilities and personality and only then his disability.
